In ETECTERA we have been in-depth analysing promising technologies to be applied to Security issues in the near future. However, expert’s opinion is fundamental to build a justified argumentation for any proposition.

The project team would like to cordially technology and security experts to the

Validation Workshop within the ETCETERA Project

on February 13th (start at 1.00 p.m.) and 14th of February 2013 (end at 5.00 p.m.) in Steigenberger Hotel Frankfurt-Langen (15 km from the Airport), Germany.

In this validation workshop the participants will evaluate selected emerging technologies like homomorphic encryption, cognitive radio, indoor navigation, sensor technologies, small scale energy harvesting and smart textiles related to future scenarios. The scenarios concerning possible future developments of key factors like European security policy, globalization, technology trends & drivers, economy and research landscape as well as societal needs build the framework for the evaluation. In sum, we need hints about barriers, challenges as well as links for suggestions for the next security research agenda of the EU.

Please read the leaflet for more information. There you will find instructions to sign up.

In return for your time, we can offer you a great day with interesting people and new perspectives on the future of civil security technologies and the frameworks as well as all workshop findings. We can offer you also a reimbursement for your travel and accommodation according to the travel rules in the Commission decision of 23 March 29 (C(2009)1942) ftp://ftp.cordis.europa.eu/pub/fp7/docs/flat-rates-subsistence_en.pdf.

Your contribution would be very much appreciated. In case you cannot participate yourself, you are welcome to suggest a knowledgeable colleague.

We look forward to hearing from you soon and kindly ask you for your response until 24th of January 2013.

All due deliverables have been accepted by the European Commission.

Work Package 2 “Identification of Critical Dependencies” is now analysing, in which Critical Technologies Europe is non-independent from other parts of the world.

Work Package 4 “Scanning for Emerging Technologies” has also been successfully completed (with two methodological reports still to be delivered). A major output of this exercise is Deliverable 4.1 “List of emerging technologies with security implications”.
